On September 8, 1995, he stopped at an ATM with his girlfriend, drove to the restaurant parking lot and was shot as he got out of the car. His murder remains an unsolved mystery? What insider information, if any, can you share about that case?"
Thanks for the question, Dave. This is an interesting case. I have several contacts in law enforcement in Southern California and should be able to dig up some tid-bits of information that might be of interest to you. I can tell you a few things right off the bat. First, Mezzaluna Trattoria on San Vincente in Brentwood was well known to be a meeting place for a number of individuals who were identified or suspected of involvement in organized crime. This included a number of members of the law enforcement community as well. While working there, and interacting with patrons, Michael Nigg would have certainly had at least some casual contact with a few of these individuals. It is possible he overheard or was witness to something and that fact may have later become a problem. It could be something as simple as being able to identify two people as having met there.
I will chat up some old buddies and see if I can learn anything that I could share with you.
So far I have been able to learn very little about the details specific to the murder of Michael Nigg. The LA area law enforcement people I've spoken with are all pretty certain Nigg's murder was a professional hit. However, they only have guesses as to why he would have been killed.

So, I get the feeling you have your own theory, Dave. Is that right?
